SERA Districts – NC

A Note From Your Director

Welcome to the North Carolina District of the SERA. I’m Dr. Mike Fariss,  K4EZ. I was born in Mt. Airy, NC., and raised just north of the border in Hillsville, VA.  I have been an extra class ham for many years and tested at the FCC field office in Mobile, AL. and Altanta, GA.  I am a private pilot, complex single engine land with ILS endorsement.   Flying drones and RC aircraft is another pleasure and I meet many hams who are also interested in aviation.  My wife and son are both hams with the wife being retired and my son, who is a “Special Agent” with the Virginia State Police.  I also wore the uniform of a Virginia DMV Inspector, and detective at a local police department.  During all this time I was mentored by Jack Flemming, W4SMT and Mose Hylton W4WUX, both SK.  I love our hobby and spend many hours listening and enjoying the numerous local repeaters.  I also enjoy the SERA Help Desk and you can alway email me at help.info@sera.org.  I welcome all of you to SERA and will be here to help when you need it. Our Directors are experienced in proper coordinations for the SERA eight states we serve.  These districts include Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, West Virginia and North Carolina. We work closely with coordinators in these and other states to provide the best possible utilization of the amateur bands.

Like all volunteer organizations, we are always looking for additional members to help support the voluntary coordination program. If you are a full member and operate a repeater, please contact me if you are interested.
